That’s what I would have done, too! I’m just glad it was the wax and not the flame! Ferrets are so oily, you know. Yikes. My only worry is that if there is still wax on her, she might try to groom it off and accidentally ingest it, causing a blockage. It might happen, so you should be trying your darndest to get that wax off! You can probably use a straight razor or scissors (if you can get the angle right) and just cut the fur away from it. She’ll have funny bald spots, but it’s better than wax in the guts. 

But all in all you did the right thing— wax sitting on or near skin, if it’s hot enough, continues to burn. So good thing you got it off quickly. 

Well, you have to MAKE time. Wake up earlier for a short playtime in the morning while you’re getting ready. Come home during a break and give them attention. Let them out while you study (which I understand can be fairly hard to do, they’re pretty distracting). Stay up later, let them play. They’re a pretty taxing commitment; that’s just part of pet ownership. 
You might have to stay home more to be with them. You might have to bail on friends from time to time to ensure your animals are well cared for. It’s a sacrifice, but not a big one! You can do it! ♥
